Reports, as are my duty *salutes* ;)
It amuses me when Alice-chan tells the club "無事初日が終わりました" and then "ハプニングもあった". I guess "無事" just means there weren't any major accidents...? ^^;;

Alice-chan also reports that for the first time a while it was a difficult and busy shonichi, but hopefully in the next few days things will settle down. It's her first time at Chunichi Theater and the audience is closer; she says she's happy to be able to feel the audience's responses. <3

Things I learned about Berubara from Marie-chan, who is awesome:

Andre and Marise speak in country accents, at least for some of the play; it reminds Marie-chan of Sakamoto Ryouma and Nakaoka Shintarou. ^^;;

Oscar doesn't have a lot of stage time. Alain doesn't have a lot of stage time. Mostly, Andre just gets a lot of stage time. >.>;;

Tomochin sounds like she's caught a cold; Marie-chan feels bad for her and worries about her voice. She also says Tomochin doesn't look much like Fersen, and nothing like Wao. ("大きいんだよね", she says of Tomochin. We all knew that, Marie-chan. ;P)

Masako is "iffy" as Gerodelle; her scene is just a short one in front of the curtain and apparently a little difficult to understand.

Chigi makes a pretty Oscar. <3

This Berubara follows the same timeline as a typical Oscar version... aka it ends the same way. ^^;;; I had wondered if it would be different, since this is a "Gaiden Berubara"... But apparently not. (Mostly I just wondered for Ume-chan's sake T____T;;;)

Marise does indeed work at the pub, but Marie-chan says the baby otokoyaku in drag bully Alice-chan, not Ume-chan... Hmmm...

In the revue Masako and Micchan's singing is "suteki", along with the New York number as a whole. <3

Alice-chan belted pretty well for her first etoile, but the very last note was a little off.. *cries* Gambatte, Alice-chan... ;______;

Things I learned about Berubara from the Sponichi article:

Starts out with a rendition of "Versailles ni Hana ga Saku" in dazzling white, blah blah blah.

Andre and Marise promise to marry each other just before Andre leaves to serve the Jarjayes household, blah blah blah.

20 years later Marise goes to Versailles in search of Andre, blah blah blah.

OSCAR AND GENERAL BOUILLET GO TO THE PUB and the General takes Marise as his foster daughter.

Andre loses sight in one eye because of Bernard. Oscar wants to go to Paris, Andre can't protect her and is worried about her safety, he goes to General Bouillet's home to beg him to change his orders. Andre and Marise have a fateful reunion, blah blah blah.

Oscar confesses her love to Fersen, blah blah blah. Marise continues to love Andre wholeheartedly, everyone in the theater cries since they already know how it'll end, blah blah blah.

Marise's country accent sounds a little bit like Nagoya dialect; the audience laughed at the beginning, but when Andre and Marise meet again and talk like bumpkins, no one laughed. :P

The famous Bastille scene seems to have been changed to make Andre the main focus instead of Oscar. The writer of the article says, "once you've changed this much, it seems like anything can happen." He also implies that the "Gaiden Berubara series" could continue, despite the fact that Hankyuu said this would be the last one.

Tani's Andre is gallant and beautiful, and it seems a shame that this is her first Berubara so late in her career. Also, sadly the famous "Oscar and Andre's one night together" scene is not featured. I'm not surprised. :\

Setting aside Ume-chan's comical country dialect, she is shining and beautiful in gorgeous dresses. This is her season, and it's depressing to think of her retirement.

Chigi is the perfect type for Oscar in that blonde wig. We do get the scene where she's rejected by Fersen, gets drunk and Andre has to take care of her. WIN.

Kacha's Bernard shows how she's really shaped up as an otokoyaku, with her perfect stance and fearless facial expressions. She's grown up considerably. The author looks forward to her Oscar. I DO TOO, THANKS, MR. WRITER MAN.

Micchan's scene with Tani when they find out that Andre has lost sight in one eye is tear-inducing. The author thinks Micchan is the star of this scene, and even if she doesn't show up much elsewhere her acting talent is evident.

Tomochin is tall and has a strong presence (WE KNOW, OKAY! XDDD) but, again, seems to have caught a cold. T_____T;; Masako's one scene with Chigi gave her the chance to show a romantic side.

ALICE-CHAN GETS A MENTION. HER SCENE OF BEING SAVED FROM BULLIES BY UME-CHAN WAS "MEMORABLE". SHE DANCES WITH MICCHAN I THINK THAT MIGHT MEAN TACCHIN'S PLACE IN ARABIA OH GOD.

...Also, oh my god, it took me SO long to dictate this all out. I need to get ready for work now. >.>;;;

*throws rocks at Ueda Shinji-sensei*

I think Sponichi said that too...poor Tomochin. Hopefully she'll get over it by the end of the run?

Alice-chan belted pretty well for her first etoile, but the very last note was a little off.. *cries* Gambatte, Alice-chan... ;______;

To be fair, she was probably REALLY nervous her first night. I'm sure she'll improve as the run continues <3

You already know how I feel about Micchan's lack of stage time, but I was very happy when I read that in the Sponichi article <3333333

Are we talking about the duet that Micchan and Tacchin had in Arabia for the honkouen? That would indeed be lovely (and would make for the second time they were paired together in this version of "Dancing For You" <3)

Only replying to the last thing before I leave:

Yes, I'm thinking that duet. The article could just mean in Paris, but 北翔の相手役 makes it sound like "in general" to me...

On the one hand, I want to feel sorry for all of the others not getting so much stage time, on the other hand I certainly don't mind seing just Tani... ^__^;;;;;;

Masako shwoing her romantic side? I don't think anyone can pull of that horrible Girodelle wig, so, er, how romantic can it get... ^^;
But I can't wait for Chigi!Oscar confessing her love to Tomocchin!Fersen!! *___*
Oh, and of course, TANI AND CHIGI KISSING! *cough*

(I finally have to write down my Ochakai report because we had a berubara questions corner and Tani tried very hard NOT to answer the question how it feels to play with other otokoyaku as Oscar. XD)

Thanks for the update! ^^

I love the love scene in Beru Bara, even in the anime version. T_T
