Maybe half of this is about "Aida"
Alright, let's see if I can tell this story in the correct order.

When I got my ticket for Aida, I read a sign wrong at Umeda Theater and thought there were no tickets available on shonichi. So I bought a ticket for the next Friday, since that's my day off and I figured there'd be more seats available than on a Sunday.

That's how I wound up with a ticket for Friday the 25th.

When I got to the theater today I found that the programs had completely sold out, and they're now taking orders for you to get them mailed to your house later. I was pretty annoyed and wished that I had gone on shonichi, or at least dropped by and bought a program. (I found out later that they're still available in Umeda QR, which is even more annoying.)

I sat in the back of the first floor S-seki and played with my Touko photo book, and close to when the show was about to start I saw what I like to call a "likely suspect" -- a very tall girl with short, brown hair.

A... wait a minute... a very FAMILIAR looking very tall girl, and... yes, without even completely seeing her face I knew it was Dai-chan☆

And where there's Dai-chan there's Alice-chan, because they go everywhere together♥, and in the guise of adjusting my opera glasses I checked and yes, it was her ♥ ♥ ♥ With two other musumeyaku, but considering the circumstances I figured it was probably her classmates Rena and Kuu-chan.

Then I was sooooooo glad I'd gotten a ticket for the 25th. ;)

Fast forward to intermission. Those of you who have been in the audience with 'siennes probably know that as soon as the lights go up they usually scurry out and hide somewhere go backstage.

But this wasn't Takarazuka, where they could just go backstage and chum around with members of the same company. This was babies going to see their beloved Touko-sama ♥ ♥ ♥ So they weren't necessarily invited to go back there.

Instead, THEY JUST STAYED IN THEIR SEATS.

I myself had jumped out of my seat as soon as the lights went up in the hopes of at least getting a closer glimpse before they disappeared. But since THEY JUST SAT THERE, I didn't know what to do. ;__________; So I paced across the aisle far behind them (they were in the fourth row) and stared longingly. Like an idiot. ^^;;;

Eventually they DID get up, which threw me off even more. Unable to resist my curiosity, I scurried after them and managed to get just behind Rena as they got to the main lobby where goods were being sold. But if I came up behind them it would be obvious that I had been following them, so I hid myself in the crowd until I could come out a little ways in front of them...

...And found myself looking at Masami. It wasn't Kuu-chan, it was MASAMI.

And I was all, "OTSUKARESAMA DESU" @_____@ and then Alice-chan saw me and I otsukare'd her too and they were like, "what's this line for?" And I said that the programs were sold out, it was order-only and you'd have to wait for one to be sent to you next month.

Alice-chan made this AMAZING face, this "disappointed and annoyed" face -- the kind of face I would never see her make in a proper meeting-your-star situation -- and I know it's stupid but I prize that expression very much. Just for a moment, I saw Alice-chan just being herself ♥ ♥ ♥

They decided to give up on the programs, since it would've been more noticeable and potentially-Sumire-Code-breaking if they'd stood there writing their names on forms and such... So I stammered, "see you on shuugoubi! Enjoy the show!!" and watched them go back to their seats and DIDN'T follow them like a silly fangirl. ^^;;;

After the show, I kept an eye on them (Dai-chan is SO easy to spot XDDD;;) from a distance, but enough to see that they actually exited the theater... and then went around the corner to go back in through the entrance that the performers use. I guess Umeda Arts Theater doesn't have a convenient "let's sneak you backstage" route?

...I just had a thought. I wonder if Alice-chan would've wanted to buy the photo book as well... I think I'll bring it to show her at shuugoubi iri. >:D!

Because yes, actually, this was supposed to be about TOUKO. Who was amazing. And beautiful. And totally outshone everyone else. ANZA and Irei especially just looked like children next to her. :P I found that instead of crying over OG Touko, I just got caught up in the story and cried for Aida and Amneris a little. I actually immediately accepted "girl Touko" and wished she could've had MORE in the way of romance... although actually not with Boy, I guess. I just wanted to see more "beautiful, womanly Touko in love" faces.

As cool as it was to see A Song for Kingdoms "The Musical Aida" live and hear those songs live and note how some choreography and costume choices were different from Takarazuka... Through a lot of it I sat there thinking NEEDS MORE TOUKO. That's all well and good about Radames and his chums, but let's get back to TOUKO, please. ;P This is proper AIDA, let's make HER the focus.

But no, a lot of it was actually very much like the original, and I reflected on how Takarazuka is so great because they try to give at least a little part -- some solo or something -- to lots of people to showcase all the stars they're promoting... But outside of Takarazuka I was like "who cares, want to see more TOUKO!" :P

I liked the musical changes inasmuch as they gave more singing parts to Touko, but in some of the other bits the melodies were just randomly different. Not sure why that was necessary.

And you know what else was unnecessary, that costume of Irei's when Radames sings "Egypt wa Ryouchi o Hirogeteru". Oh my god. That was actually offensive, I mean really, too many inches of skin showing below the belly button. Gratuitous display of man-flesh. :\ The soldier armor that all the men wore was silly, but not like "I have to look away because that's just gross". And then they had to throw in a gratuitous display of female flesh in the second act -- yes, let's just have one woman randomly strip off her clothes to reveal a gold bikini underneath!

I've become so used to actresses always wearing hose so they're not dancing with bare legs and such. So that was rather embarrassing. ^^;;;

Overall, I realized that I truly just like Takarazuka better than anything. ^^;;; It was great to see this show live, but I would have preferred to see the original version live instead.

And like I said, Touko was better than everyone. I can really only be critical of the other two main characters because I watched them a fair bit, but...

Radames (Irei Kanata) = such a ham. I watched most of his first solo without opera glasses, and his ridiculous jumping about and overacting still reached all the way to the back of the theater. He played such a simple man, riding hot on whatever emotion he felt that the moment. There was noooooooo subtlety. His singing was fine, I guess, but pretty... young-sounding.

Amneris (ANZA) = She did the Sailor Moon musicals, right? I guess she took at least Acting 101 sometime between then and the other stage musicals she's done, but I found her very bland. Her Amneris was, again, young and childish. Her voice was good, but I felt like she sacrificed the expressions on her face when she was singing.

But at least Ubaldo (Miyakawa Hiroshi) was cool. I thought his deep and growly voice in that "Omae wa Dorei ni Natteiru" song was awesome. :D

Everyone else was good in the background but I don't really care enough to mention any of them. :P

Hmmm... am I forgetting anything... oh, the kiss! I was wondering when it was going to show up (in the love song) and I was like oh, okay, there it is >.>;;; And then immediately afterward Radames says something encouraging and Aida says "hai!" but today at least for Touko it came out kind of like "*squeak*-eeai!" ^^;;;;; Gambatte, Touko-san... ♥

Ah yes, and the curtain calls! ♥ ♥ ♥ Touko's short speech... I think I'm going to have to write it in Japanese first and then figure out how to translate it. Something like...

「いやぁ、大阪。。。熱いですね。大阪の皆さん、熱いです。ありがとうございます。汗をかからないように頑張ります。」

And then she cocked her head like "...what did I just say?!" and laughed at herself.

(It's a constant struggle trying to deal with how "atsui" can mean "hot" but also "passionate" in Japanese. Whereas in English "hot" can refer to temperature but is also slang for "good-looking". So if you assume that Touko wasn't checking out the audience...)

"Ah, Osaka... is hot. Everyone in Osaka is so hot! Thank you very much. I'll do my best and try not to sweat."

She was so amused at herself that for the rest of the curtain calls (there were 4 or 5 of them) she mimed wiping sweat off her face. (Meanwhile Irei kept hiding his pecs like he was embarrassed -- "I'm half-naked here, let me go home already!!" XDD)

I think that's it. Plus there was me grabbing tons of Uno chirashi. And yeah.

With my new Touko icon, should I retire the old "legs" icon? Make a new otokoyaku-in-drag icon? Keep both? Hmm...

I admire your talent for random encounter. And not losing composure... I would have probably gone a bit wild-eyed.

Well, I'm glad you had something to keep you entertained at intermission. ;)

...Wow, out of programs too. The long saga of Club Goods ended earlier this week with an e-mail stating, "We have no goods. We will have no more goods. Stop bothering us."

It seems we're in agreement as to all the show's particulars. Ah, Boy. I'm glad to see his nickname is catching on. ;)

Also, rather jealous that they had stacks of Uno chirashi. The only ones we got were in the little chirashi packs they handed out when you came in - there weren't any out anywhere, at least not that I ever saw...

ALSO, "Legs" icon should NEVER be retired. It is my favorite icon in the history of EVER.

Your story of your Encounter made me grin ear to ear. Pouty Alice face! I can only imagine. ♥ I'm glad you got a ticket for the twenty-fifth, too. ;)

Amneris (ANZA) = She did the Sailor Moon musicals, right?

Yep, she was the Sailor Moon for the first 5 musicals they made. This is my main problem with ANZA, I've totally imprinted (yay for lack of a better word ^^; ) on her being Usagi (yep, I spent too many years of my life being a SeraMyu addict XD ) so whenever she plays something else I have to concentrate and tell me that this is NOT SeraMyu. XD

And I think you did rather well on the stalking and not making it too obvious/disturbing. XD
(Also, meeting MASAMI! ;___; I think I'll never get around to post that in my journal so I'll just tell it here that while in Tokyo I once nearly bumped into Natsu Hiromi when she was coming out of the stage door in the middle of the day ;____; I was so...shocked to see her and yet so happy. ^__^;;; )

Oh, and since you said we should tell you when there's something interesting on niconico:

I was going to say I LOVE YOU SO MUCH for the dinner show okeiko clip until I realized that Monchi is wearing Eriko's taidan wear and now I'm crying ;______________;

...I knew it looked familiar!!! ;__; I just did not pay enough attention to think about it twice and was distracted by other people in the vid... ^^;

I don't know why I find the idea of Alice and co. buying programs so cute, but I do <333333

Also, don't get rid of the Touko legs icon. I've always liked that one!!!!
