Resurfacing
Hello, everyone. ^___^

I had a lovely, lovely break from the internet. People kept me up to date on things but I've had little desire to participate in fandom discussions.

Now, then, is the really short version.

Julie's Official Stance On...

* Pimpernel casting: I was ready to accept Masaki!Chauvelin as an inevitability. But I will not monetarily support Mirio!Chauvelin. No. Cutting such a big role in half, giving it to such young people, immediately going for an awkward double-wakate-nibante setup for New Tsukigumi... I do not approve.

* The next Yukigumi top: Kimu. The evidence is overwhelming, and all that stands in the way is the company's desire to be deliberately contrary.

* Makkun (I saw Bund/Neon Shanghai yesterday): I still like her. But I like her in the way I like, say, her classmate Beni. Sometimes attractive and sometimes hints of talent (Makkun angsting / fighting with a purpose ngh) but mostly just gangly and goofy. Therefore the company should push Daimon more and give Makkun wacky side character roles (and more opportunity to show off her legs eh heh <--) But I don't think they will. I just hope Makkun never overtakes Mitsuru ;_____;

That last one got kind of long. ^^;;; But also, one of my New Year's resolutions is to not get so worked up and hurt by fandom, and that seems to be going well so far. :)

Now to selectively catch up on other people's journals in the next hour. ^^;;;

I am so with you on Pimpernel. I hope it's Masaki on the DVD. 'Cause... it's Kiriyan!Pimpernel, so I know I'm going to buy it, but I would muuuuuch rather have Masaki than Mirio.

Kimu makes sense with Yumiko and Yumiko's semi-official partner (Nacchan) leaving so suddenly. I wonder if they were told they wouldn't make top and decided to give up, or if they were pushed out for Kimu? I hope it's the former, a choice on everyone's part.

I'm surprised, though, simply because I didn't think Kimu was a big enough seller yet (none of her bow halls were put to DVD like, say, Yumiko's or Tomu's). I'm glad I was wrong, though, because I really like Kimu. She's cute, she's talented, she has a wonderful singing voice, and she'd work well with Mika. I'm dying to see them do "Earnest in Love".

I had never thought of Kimu and Mika doing Earnest in Love until I read your comment, and now I want it. I want it SO BAD.

I can pretty much promise you Yumiko wasn't pushed out, and I'm fairly certain Hankyu was not expecting Nacchan to leave-- Nacchan went because Yumiko made the choice to. (I'm willing to bet DVDs on it.)

As for Kimu's Bow Halls not on DVD, it's because she wasn't a nibante. Yumiko & Tomu are, so their shows were recorded & released.

Thirding the wish for Mika/Kimu "Earnest in Love". *__*

Makes sense, but Sou is also a nibante and "Oguri" isn't released, while Yuuhi's bow hall plays ("Last Party", "Hollywood Lover" were put up for sale while she was still sanbante in Tsukigumi.

I'm happy about Yumiko if you're right. I just love the thought of her doing what she wants to do, you know? She has so much talent and is wonderful in so many ways, she absolutely has that right.
Katelynhappy_riceball on January 18th, 2010 05:25 am (UTC)
I didn't know that about Sou's Bow Halls. I'm surprised.

And as cheesy as this sounds, you can tell in Yumiko's smile. It's particularly full of sunshine lately. A person just forced from her dream-job would not be smiling that sort of smile. I believe she knows exactly what she's doing. I can only pray it works out how she wishes. Oh, Yumiko. ♥

I wonder if Oguri could be a case of when she officially became nibante.

Chie's Halleluja Go Go! wasn't released either because she doesn't seem to have been officially made nibante until Secret Hunter/Sakura.

So maybe new nibantes are only appointed in Grand theatre shows? Just speculating...

And as for Yuuhi, weren't Kiryan and Yuuhi more or less treated as two nibantes in Tsuki? I remember being confused by the Takarazuka Revue 2007(?) mook were all the other troupes were presented by top pair plus nibante while Tsuki had top pair plus Kiryan and Yuuhi. No rules without exceptions I guess.

Maybe. It would make more sense if you're right.

I agree with quinquin, Sou wasn't officially nibante when she did Oguri! so it doesn't count. Yuuhi's "2.5" status in Tsukigumi and huge popularity accounts for her shows going to DVD too, I think, although strangely one would think that this could be said for Kimu as well. (Being secret 2.5, loved by the company and popular enough to sell DVDs.)

I also think that Yumiko is leaving of her own choice, didn't want to be top, and is bowing out before Mizu so that it's easier for Kimu to succeed the position.

*edits* One more thing: I want to comment and correct everyone but I'm holding back... It's Ernest in Love. Earnest is not a name. ^^;;;

Oh Pimpernel. It's like Hankyu is determined to make me not like my favorite musical. At least I have absolute faith in Marimo.

I can absolutely see Kimu as the next yukigumi top, and actually, I am seriously suspecting that she will get the job.
But what I really wonder about is who is going to be nibante.
Given who gets the biggest roles in yukigumi main shows at the moment (of those who are not about to retire...), it would be Kitarou, which would be more awesome than the most awesome thing I can imagine, but I really doubt that.
I don't think Chigi is at the point to be nibante yet, and neither is Koma. (Given that both of them are older than Kaname, from what I recall, this sounds kind of weird...)

I guess there is a chance for a transfer, I just wonder who might be the person in question. Everyone older than Kimu is out of that, which makes it really difficult, as there isn't really anyone among the 85ths and 86ths anymore who is popular enough (except Morie maybe, but I doubt that).
Except if they should decide to transfer Kaname back, but I don't think that's likely (and the fact that I want to say "And they should not dare to try to transfer her again" right now shows well enough that I think she is where she belongs).

My other theory is still that they are going to transfer a new top star into Yukigumi, and in my opinion the only persons I can see there are Tomu and Sou. Kimu is by far the most popular current sanbante, and like that only nibante would have a chance to sneak in there. Both options seem awesome to me.

This is the logic that had me expecting a non-Tsukigumisei to be moved in to become Chauvelin. And we all see how that worked out.

Nah, her and Chie are too rabu-rabu ;P

I keep saying this to people (in person more than online I guess), but I like to use the phrase "cutting the feet out from under someone". Taking away Sou or Tomu, when their respective tops could leave within a year (obviously we don't know but should be aware of the possibility), is just setting up every troupe for more problems down the line. I've nearly convinced myself that Yuuhi was the exception, Soragumi is the troupe the company likes to stick with interloper tops, and other than that they prefer natural progressions (see: Chie & Kiriyan becoming tops). Mostly. Recently. You know. They do like to contradict themselves on purpose.

But basically I do just think Kimu is so loved the company (and Visa, hey) that they'll make her top sooner rather than later.

Oh, I know that, but it never really kept Hankyu from doing anything. Plus you never can tell how long a top star is going to stay.
