Solferino theme...stuck...in...my...head...GAH.
I feel like I owe LJ at least one report tonight, but strangely enough I'm not in the right mood to post about bunkasai. So I'll do Solferino now. (Yes, I do feel the need to re-record my thoughts now that I've seen it again.)

I'm really tired, so I'll either be boring or so tired I'm funny?

Here you go.

Man, it's embarrassing to listen to my own voice posts again. T______T;;;

Hey, you do good voice posts :) You should have a podcast, really. *takes notes*
Julie: alice kathy starwao_wao on February 22nd, 2010 02:23 am (UTC)
I'm flattered! I really think my random blather filled with "um"s and "wah"s isn't really good enough to start a regular feature, but... ^^;; Comments like this only make my head grow bigger, you know ;) ♥

Like professional speakers don't do that ;) I love the way you do analysis on the fly, troupe politics included.

And I do think the nun thing comes from the simplistic idea that for all Westerners individual life is most precious. Or maybe a misinterpretation of the forbiddance of suicide?

your comment about the sisters made me laugh a lot ! It' s indeed a japanese way to see the christian religion ^^:

by the way I love your audio posts !! it s 100 times more detailed and I can understand at last some point of the story
ps : I LOVE this show and I LOVE Solferino song ;p
Julie: alice ed disguisewao_wao on February 22nd, 2010 02:25 am (UTC)
*laughs* You and I hardly ever agree on anything, do we? XD But I'm curious what it is you like about this story.
quinquinquinquin on February 21st, 2010 07:16 pm (UTC)
Doesn't sound like the most exciting show (especially for those of us who don't understand spoken dialog.)

Nice to have the voice posts again, they are kind of like bonus tracks <3.

None of this surprises me.

None of it.

Including, or perhaps especially, the fact that listening to your post is probably more interesting than watching the play.

But why does Solferino get so much more attention than Aibou?
anthy1306: awwwwwanthy1306 on February 21st, 2010 09:15 pm (UTC)
speaking of which. I was wondering, too o_O
Julie: alice ayane homewao_wao on February 22nd, 2010 02:31 am (UTC)
Point duly noted! There really is no good reason for me to have not posted about Aibou, other than winter break and then Angela coming over and then my computer problems and then Jen coming over and thus me getting distracted by other things. >.>;;

But my main motivation is always people saying they want to hear about things! So hopefully now that it's on my mind I'll have time this week... I warn you, though, it'll take longer because Aibou needs about 10 voice posts ;D
anthy1306: grinanthy1306 on February 22nd, 2010 11:35 am (UTC)
oh *I* don't mind ^____^

Aibou? Deserving of vast amounts of love and attention? You do not shock me.
Katelynhappy_riceball on February 21st, 2010 07:41 pm (UTC)
You had me dying over your Yumiko reporting, and then your Mizu whining~ oh my goodess. I pray I'm not putting your commentary over the show in my head come April, because... I will start laughing really loud. Which will be not good. ^^;

Thank you for the review! (I think there is potential for enjoyment, if only by staring at Yumiko's arms.)
Julie: alice dorothy naughtywao_wao on February 22nd, 2010 12:54 pm (UTC)
I was a little more comfortable doing it from B-seki, but I still felt a little guilty snickering at inappropriate things and leaning over to make snarky commentary to Manda whenever there was an applause break XP

(HAVE FAITH IN YUMIKO'S ARMS ♥)
anthy1306anthy1306 on February 21st, 2010 09:18 pm (UTC)
You know - whaaaaa - your report was just like, you know uhm.....great - I mean, no - whaaaaa - it was - whaaa, whaaa - I simply died with laughter listening to it and all that "whaaa" sounds!! XD

Mizu: whaaa! What to do? Whaaa!
Mika: Doesn't matter, as long as Austrians die painfully!! *grudge*
Chigi: Please, please! Whaaaa! Help us! We are hungry!
Mika: No bread for you! *grudge grudge*
Chigi: But we will die! Whaaa!
Mika: THEN DIE!!
Chigi: Whaaaa!
Mizu: Super-whaaa!!
Yumiko: ....*sigh*.....*keeps on looking good and shrugs*

At least the show wins with your voice reports! Thank you
(sadly I couldn't download the second part ^^;)
Julie: alice dorothy naughtywao_wao on February 22nd, 2010 02:48 am (UTC)
I think your summary of my voice post summary is really amusing too ;) ♥ But oh no, you didn't get the second part! Everyone else seems to have downloaded both parts just fine -- try again?
anthy1306: yeah rightanthy1306 on February 22nd, 2010 11:32 am (UTC)
wheeee, it worked!
Will write comments while listening (lacking time ^^)

Hey. HEY!! What's all that pink fluffy clouds hanging around all of a sudden? Mika! No time for being fuzzy about Yumiko! Be grudgy!

And people! It's war! And none of the soldiers started it just for the record! This is not a competition show, who lost more relatives! *head-palm*

poor Musumeyaku for just being silly giggling nurses, nuns or dirty village girls *guuuuh*

*gosh* oh Mizu, stopp singing the theme song for Gods sake! XD
This is really like Berubara, where you cannot escape "aiiiiiiiiii areeeeebaaaaa kosooooooo"

....and....Ueda-sensei....really.....THEY DRAW A RED CROSS WITH BLOOD?!
That's close to the stupidness of letting Jeanne D'Arc get MARRIED at the end - whaaaa!

I bet the CHRISTIAN-you must love your next-nuns just said that to Mizu to have ANYTHING to say X___X

What? Yumiko gets not only a romance with Top Musumeyaku, but also a solo that is NOT "Solferino"? *uuuuUUUUUUuuuuh*

Yeah go Kimu - rhaaaaa - kill them all. end this stuff, PLEASE!

Huh? Over? Just like.....that?!

How sad, the stage pictures looked so promissing ._____.
Oh dear, thank you for the whole summary. I missed some more "whaaa!" in the second part XD How dare they stop whining? *lol*

well, well,...good jo(ke)b, Ueda-sensei ^^;
magenta07 on February 21st, 2010 09:48 pm (UTC)
i second the podcast suggestion! it's really nice to hear people's in depth reviews of shows. especially for those of us who won't get to see yumiko's arm muscles this show but would really like to.
Becca: Yumiko muffin_song on February 21st, 2010 10:08 pm (UTC)
I have a sad feeling your review was probably much, much, MUCH more entertaining than the actual show -_-: I particularly liked your various descriptions of people sitting around wangsting <3

It's too bad this show is awful written by Ueda-sensei, because the story of how the Red Cross began does actually sound kind of interesting. Probably not the right material for a Takarazuka show, but it could make an interesting movie.

(Also, the Red Cross originally being drawn with bloody rags? The idea of bloody seito doesn't really phase me, but this is kind of gross ^^;)
konata_01: シエル君<3konata_01 on February 22nd, 2010 01:19 am (UTC)
This show is sounding worse by the minute. O_o
*goes to watch rehearsal video again*

I'm amazed at how weak the plot sounds. I know Takarazuka shows generally follow a specific formula, but still. That's no excuse for weak character motivation. And lack of climax >_>
dybjidybji on February 22nd, 2010 07:02 am (UTC)
Aw, you underestimate yourself. It's like a DVD commentary! (One that, ahem, would probably increase the chances of survival vis a vis the show in question by about forty percent. ;) )

I thought the bit about Chigi popping back from the grave shouting "Mizu~!" was actually cute, though. <3
Julie: alice ed disguisewao_wao on March 2nd, 2010 04:12 am (UTC)
Lol. I've done "DVD commentary" as well, when I watch stuff with gummical and do a running translation... Which she finds entertaining, at least. ^^;; I personally think they're just shoddy on-the-fly translations that are sometimes wrong and / or sound ridiculous... >.>;;
dybjidybji on March 3rd, 2010 05:28 am (UTC)
Accuracy and seriousness are not always the most helpful things when translating a Zuka play, I have come to believe. Accurate translation nearly killed "Seal of Roses" for me, when, really. Why did I not ignore the words and focus on all the Rika like a sane person. WHY.

(Have not commented on Aibou yet because I haven't downloaded. I'm trying to catch up on LJ things tonight, so maybe I'll get to it before it gets too late ...)
starbuck98: yukistarbuck98 on March 1st, 2010 04:58 am (UTC)
ha ha
couldn't stop laughing as i listened to your recording on solferino. not sure why but only the Julie-pyon Does Solferino 2.mp3 was available for me to download. don't see the 1st one.

anyway, solferino was my first takarazuka revue show and since i don't understand japanese, the lack of plot was not so obvious to me during the show. however, listening to the solferino song multiple times became, well, boring. nevertheless, since i do like the yukigumi actresses and it was my first show, i didn't mind it as much.

thx much for the detailed descriptions and commentary. great stuff!!!

cheers

Re: ha ha
I feel sad that you listened to #2 without hearing the first part... Try again? I'm glad, at least, that you enjoyed some of my commentary and some of the show. :) Thank you for commenting.
starbuck98starbuck98 on March 7th, 2010 04:37 am (UTC)
yeah!!!
your link of "Try again?" gave me access to part 1 of your solferino voice recording so i will definitely listen to it. go figure...

anyway, tx again and i can't wait to listen to part 1... ;-)
