Things to stay for, things to be missed
...Huh. Well, based only on rumor and her dinner show title I would have put good money on Tom retiring at the end of the year, but... It looks like she's not appearing in Hoshigumi's next show after all? So much for that theory. ^_^;;;

Still, argh. Takarazuka would put on a full-length buyou show right after I leave. :\

It's been plaguing me for a while that I haven't made it clear on this journal, never could find the opportune moment, but... I'll be leaving Japan in September. Alice-chan is only part of it, honestly -- it's just the right time to get out of here and into something new. Possibly time to step back a bit from being so crazy involved in the Zuka fandom.

ANYWAY wanted to get that out there, but it's not until September. Just... now I can allude to it on LJ instead of consciously avoiding the subject. ^^;;;

ARGH, BUYOU SHOW. I mean I've been to two Buyoukai which were great, but a buyou revue is different. All I've gotten in my time here was the weird half hour of semi-buyou last year in Kaze no Nishiki-e, and... WANT FULL JAPANESE DANCE REVUE WITH MIEKO-SENSEI. POUT.

Yes, this is more exciting to me than An Officer and a Gentleman. All I really know about it is that song, and the fact that for some reason Japan calls the movie AND song by the same, completely different name (愛と青春の旅立ち).

I was thinking I'd miss Gypsy Baron / Rhapsodic Moon too, planning to leave at the end of August... But then there was, um, Tomu's concert announcement, and it seems INCREDIBLY stupid not to stay in the country a few extra days to go to it. So I'm hoping to catch "R"ising!! AND Tsukigumi before I leave.

And yeah. Um, that's great about Hoshigumi, Hankyuu... Can we please have Kimu's partner and the name of her top debut show liek nao? x__x

You not being in Japan will probably make it more difficult to see you! D: Come visit NY?

I hope you're able to squeeze in those last couple shows!

Heh, well, if Teffy has her way either I'll be going to the east coast at some point, or she'll have to come visit me in the west... It'd be cool to have a group meet-up, though. ^^

The buyou show sounds amazing - it's been too long since a Star buyou :) I'm especially surprised Tom isn't in it since Sakai-sensei directed what, all her dinner shows?

Now I'm really hoping my October/November trip happens...

So glad my trip is scheduled for this Hoshi run! :D I've been dying to see them do a traditional thing ever since Mariko made me smitten on Nihonmono. She made me cry with how pretty her dancing was. I'd love to see if Chie is as good at that as she is at modern.

Random question - how long *have* you been in Japan? It's going to be so odd to think of you not being in Japan ^^;

2 years, 2 months. This time around.

Not like I've been keeping track or anything.

*laughs* Like my friend said, a little over two years -- with this job. I was here in the summer of '07 with a different job, and before that I did a study abroad for 9 months... It was during that first trip to Japan that I discovered Takarazuka. :)

But yeah, it's a little weird for ME to think of myself not being in Japan, too...

I would have put good money on Tom retiring at the end of the year I've kind of assumed that she will slowly fade out of performances but not retire since my impression of performers who are board members is that they literally die on the job. But my sample of people to base that assumption on is rather small.

I seriously wouldn't have considered Tom's retirement at all either, if it weren't for that dinner show title...

WANT FULL JAPANESE DANCE REVUE WITH MIEKO-SENSEI. POUT.

ME TOO, ACTUALLY.

I was going to ask you soon if you planned on leaving Japan (possibly only temporarily), but yeah. Your reasoning behind your decision sounds absolutely understandable - I hope everything goes fine!

When I read "Tom" I was freaking out a little thinking about Tomu (it made sense in my head).. I'm so nervous about her ^^;
I expect Tom to do less and less, but that she's not actually retiring. At this point it would be weird, however, since when is something weird to Hankyu?
Julie: tomu samuel hatwao_wao on June 2nd, 2010 01:17 pm (UTC)
Some people like to distinguish between "Tom" and "RanTom", but I really don't like "RanTom" as a nickname, plus someone implied to me that it's disrespectful to use it among Soragumi clubs. So I always just say "Todoroki-san" and "Ranju-san", and write "Tom" and "Tomu" on my journal. Sorry if it's confusing. ^^;;;

Anyway, don't be nervous about Tomu! She's "Rising" ;)

however, since when is something weird to Hankyu?

So true. T_____T;;;

Your reasoning behind your decision sounds absolutely understandable - I hope everything goes fine!

There really is a lot more reasoning to it, I just don't like to bore my Zuka fan friends with real-life stuff. ^^;;; But thank you for your support :) ♥

Ah, I always use "Tom" and "Tomu" for them as well (RanTom sounds just terrible to me), but since it's nearly/basically vocalized the same way in Japanese it sounds the same in my head. In the end it comes down to my paranoid self ^^; so it's usually not confusing at all! :D
Thank you for the "Rising" encouragement! After it has hit hard all my friends last/this year taidan-wise, I'm taking nothing for granted.

I suspected many various reasons behind your decision and it seems as if you've really thought it through. And you'd never bore me with real-life stuff, always curious about that of people I know :) ♥

Three things, just three things I want to make absolutely clear before you leave:

1. You HAVE to see Gypsy Baron. You CANNOT miss a Kiriyan!Marimo! show XD
2. You HAVE to see "R"ising!. I mean, from the title and timing, there's no denying that Tomu's gonna be top, sooner or later. It'll probably be your last chance to see her really shine before she becomes top. (But yeah, schedule-wise, I wanna go but I CAAAAAAN'T T____________________T)
3. I really really want to thank you for inviting me into the LJ Zuka fandom :) and for being my 1st friend on LJ <33333

(AAARGH I would have put a good icon to express my feelings but I CAN'T GET THE SIZES RIGHT.)
Julie: alice kochou arrowswao_wao on June 2nd, 2010 01:10 pm (UTC)
1. If I have to see "a" Kiriyan & Marimo show, then I already saw one! ;P Pimpernel was tons of fun of course, but admittedly I would kind of like to see them do a full revue... Well, when I leave depends on how much my mother guilt-trips me about it, in any case :\

2. TOMU CONCERT. I KNOW. I MUST SEE IT.

3. Yaaayyyy, LJ friends! ♥ Do you need help figuring out icons etc?
