On the Town
Once again instead of doing ANYTHING productive this evening, I came home from work with a song stuck in my head and devolved into fantasy-casting an old movie musical.

It's one of my secret hobbies, to Takarazuka-cast shows I loved as a child. I haven't shared many of them, nor have I done this in awhile... Not entirely sure why I felt like doing it now.

"On the Town" is a simple story. Three sailors have a 24-hour shore leave and are each determined to grab a girl for a date during their one day in New York.

Chip is set upon by a lady taxi driver.

Ozzie catches the eye of an anthropologist.

And Gabey, the main character, aims high for a woman he assumes to be a celebrity just from seeing her picture on a train -- Miss Turnstiles.

The three friends scour the city searching for her, and of course Gabey later finds out that Ivy isn't exactly who he expected her to be. Many wacky hijinks ensue.

I think the only way to do this is obviously Tomu!Gabey x Masami!Ivy, Eriko!Ozzie x Alice!Claire... and for some reason Chigi!Chip (lolol) x Tacchin!Hildy springs to mind.

Considering it was Frank Sinatra in the movie the "nibante" role should probably be Chip, but I HAVE to have Alice-chan play the part of the sexy tap-dancing anthropologist, you know. And Eriko being the Giant Neanderthal Wonder would be amazing XD

For some reason Tomu-Eriko-Chigi seems to be my default setup, and an inspired image of Tacchin as Hildy solidified this... But on second thought Kacha!Chip x Eri-chan!Hildy could be its own kind of awesome :D

And then... I think it has to be Taki-san as Madame Dilyovska the alcoholic ballet teacher, and Seiko can be the Lucy socially awkward roommate ;) (Hildy nominates her for Gabey's replacement date when Ivy disappears; that's her in "You Can Count on Me".)

Plus at the very least, cameos by Masako and Kai-chan as policemen. OH and Monchi, definitely, and and...

...*gets distracted by more Gene Kelly*

Is it any wonder that I love Takarazuka, when THAT has always been my ideal man? ♥_____________♥

Oh man I LOVE this show so much, SO much. And I approve of Kacha and Eri-chan in nearly any combination, I think they're awfully cute together.

I'm familiar with a couple of the songs from this show. Now that you mention it, I could see it being a good Zuka production...

"Three buddies go on an adventure" -- could there *be* a simpler setup for the top-2bante-3bante system? ^^

Tacchin as Hildy would be amazing.

Alice and Eriko as Claire and Ozzy would be ditto. *_* (Actually I was really surprised the first time I watched the movie how different it was from the stage version/cast recording, and the Neanderthal number always made me kind of uncomfortable with all the hilarious-except-oh-wait-not-really Celluloid Racism Fail, but I suspect it would seem less offensive coming from, well, Takarazuka.)

Taki-san as the teacher OMG YES.

This is an alarmingly good idea. LET'S PRETEND IT CAN HAPPEN.

I ALREADY AM :D :D :D

Yes, ahah, the lack of political correctness in old movies. ^_^;;; But that can be changed, you know, even if I've never had very high expectations for PC-ness in Takarazuka >.>;;;

Anyway I'm glad you liked my silly idea X3

I was thinking of doing a post on Notable Celebrity Crushes I Had As A Child -- but do people really need to know THAT much about how I ended up this way?

I think in general the rule is -- if it amuses you to write it and other people to read it, it's worth posting. :) I imagine it could be fun ♥
