Shinko shinko shinko shinko shinko shinko.
It takes a lot of willpower to start at the beginning and not just explode with love over Kai-chan's aisatsu.
It's also extra work for me to do this, but since very few people will even know who I'm talking about in the first place, I figured I'd make a key.
Kai-chan (Nanami Hiroki) = Justin (HY: Yamato Yuuga)
Tara-chan (Aihana Chisaki) = Yvette (HY: Hizuki Hana)
BonBon (Houju Ichi) = Victor (HY: Ranju Tomu)
Riku (Sorahane Riku) = Francis (HY: Hokushou Kairi)
Akkii (Sumiki Sayato) = Xavier (HY: Yuumi Hiro)
Monchi (Hoshibuki Ayato) = Christophe (HY: Nanaho Hikaru)
Sattsun (Kazahane Reia) = Hector (HY: Toki Irisu)
Kanachin (Kashou Naoto) = Jerome (HY: Kotobuki Tsukasa)
Eri-chan (Fujisaki Eri) = Camilla (HY: Suzuna Saya)
Tamami (Himiya Sakura) = Colette (HY: Mikaze Maira)
J-ko (Momochi Ito) = Countess (HY: Ayazono Yuki)
Seiko (Junya Chitose) = Helen (HY: Miwa Asahi)
Kuracchi (Maiki Ayumi) = Monique (HY: Karin Moyuru)
Re-re (Sumireno Rei) = Veronica (HY: Hanakage Arisu)
Sakurako (Kotoha Sakurako) = Agatha (HY: Aihana Chisaki)
Sakkun (Sakuma Takane) = Bodyguard (HY: Amou Tamaki)
Ten-chan (Tenrei Mion) = various roles ;)
* Kai-chan. SHE'S SUCH A GENTLEMAN. Suave and 紳士-like for sure. And a good actor. And she's definitely been studying Standard Otokoyaku Movements 101 -- I mean that in a good way, because not all babies are that far along. Well, she said in her program blurb that she thought Tani's moves were really natural and cool, so I guess she was studying Tani. ;) Her singing is passable -- not perfect, but probably better than Tani's. ^^;;
Little things, she didn't quite straighten her jacket lapels properly in the "morning after" scene (such an nitpicky thing), and she almost forgot a line in the hospital scene with Sakurako but recovered pretty quickly. The big thing that jumped out to me was her lack of... manly strength? Forcefulness? When dealing with Sattsun, pushing her around and such. I guess Tani's approach to it is pretty intense and hard to match. Other than that, she was her own Justin and it was LOVE.
* Tara-chan. She doesn't have that sheer presence like Ume-chan does, and she can't sing much better than Ume-chan either, but she was solid and adult. She was her own Yvette, not a shinko copy. And boy did she and Kai-chan pair together well. The kissing -- there's lots of kissing in this show -- it didn't look like omg-shinko-we're-awkward-and-embarrassed-t o-be-doing-this kissing. It was good. And oh, how I loved whitedress!Tara-chan doing that last dance with tuxedo!Kai-chan. (Four times out of five I watch Alice-chan's facial expressions during that dance, but this was shinko ♥) Oh, and I liked tipsy Tara-chan too. ;)
* BonBon. WAS PRACTICALLY TOO GOOD TO BE IN SHINKOS. My word, she was an aristocrat through and through. And a decent singer, and snarky in the right places, and maybe a bit too much of a Tomu-copycat but I just adored her. AND she got to dance in the "seven years ago" dance party, which was a surprise!!
* Riku. Was a disappointment. She's nice to look at doing stuff in the background and all, but when she comes forward and has speaking lines... I just don't get a reading on her, I don't feel her presence. Her Francis wasn't even very sulky, just bland and high-voiced (and she can't sing like Micchan, sadly). And her ちょっと可愛い in response to Re-re's ちょっとかっこいい was just fail. Where was the cheekiness!! It wasn't there at all!!
* Akkii. Akkii, on the other hand, was great. :D It was more subtle than Tomochin, but she managed to put forth a little sleaziness, in her own way. She had that nose-upturned, unpleasantly overconfident thing going on. Especially after Kai-chan failed to be manly enough in her interrogation bit, Akkii's scene on the street seemed to have more strength and tension.
Also, Akkii did THAT DANCE. With Re-re. It was like seeing it for the first time, and thus was beautiful all over again. ♥ ♥ ♥
* MONCHI. MonchiMonchiMonchiMonchiMonchi. First she was doing That Other Dance that Mii-chan does with Ecchan while Tani's singing across the ginkyou about Our Summer Together. (Sorry for looking past you during your solo, Kai-chan, but I knew I would see more of you than of Monchi on the whole, so...) Monchi is a fine little dancer, let me say. *pets her* And of course she was in the dance party too, with some older musumeyaku... Or a few of them, actually, I think she changed partners once or twice.
THEN! HER CHRISTOPHE!! Oh she was so focused and earnest and しっかり. And she didn't push out her lips or over-emote too much. ;) And her tiny tiny singing bit was good. But I liked it so much better when she could be grinny and happy and sing めでたい、のみたい! Smiley Monchi is the best Monchi ♥ ♥ She was also being pretty suave and gentlemanly in her tux at the big end party.
...MonchiMonchiMonchi. X3
* Sattsun. I rediscovered Sattsun in this performance, and she either reminded me of someone or I was just remembering her own cute self. She wasn't Masako, she wasn't radically different but she did hold her own. Especial cute points during なさけない~ But that leads me to...
* Kanachin. Poor Kanachin T___T;; Her old man wasn't very believable, the audience only giggled a little at her なさけない... They actually laughed more at her old man laugh, because it was kind of funny-sounding. I'm sorry, Kanachin...
* Eri-chan, though, totally lived up to my expectations as far as singing. ^______^ さすが, she was the best singer in the shinko. She wasn't quite old lady-ish enough, but oh well.
* Tamami-chan also wasn't the "getting on in years but still spry" mother figure that Aoi-san is. She was just cute.
* J-ko mostly was the old lady she was meant to be, and yet the cuteness of her face still made it hard to believe. ^^;;; J-ko ^^;;;; Why did they give us old lady J-ko ^^;;;;;
* Seiko. Seiko was mostly the same as Masami, except she WASN'T Masami, so instead of watching her I was focusing on Kai-chan or other random people, like...
* Ten-chan. Ten-chan took the place of some of my favorite honkouen background characters ♥ Namely, Dai-chan's place at the other table in the cafe where Justin and Helen are talking (Ten-chan's girlfriend was Rian), and Monchi's place as one of the put-upon boyfriends with all the packages (that time I think her girlfriend was Ririko). And and!!! She got Tamatama's solo about the ばらばらばら of society! Oh I was so happy that she got to sing ♥
* Kuracchi. I didn't like her breathy, clueless secretary as much as I like Asu-chan's, and I think that costume was too tight on her... Like she couldn't move in it properly. Then again, I mostly only heard her voice because I was watching BonBon and Monchi instead. ^^;;;
* Re-re. Re-re got to do That Dance, which was great, but otherwise she was Not Alice so I didn't watch her much. ^^;; I also partly blame her for the failure of ちょっとかっこいい.
* Sakurako. Barely watched her at all. >.>;;;
* Sakkun. Got lines (one of Akkii's bodyguards; Mappuu was the other), that's nice for her to have in her last shinko before she retires ;______; Not like Rabi-chan, who was a servant and got nothing :( :(
Other babies of note:
* Fuuma Kakeru, doing Kai-chan's role of the sailor with the umbrella at the end.
* Mitsuki Haruka, I watched her when I could -- she got Mii-chan's head waiter bit, and one of the dancing couples who gets to kiss (with Kuracchi, was it?), and one of Justin's Angsty Dancers(TM) which Monchi does in the honkouen.
* KIZUKI YUUMA, who got Mitsuki Haruka's role (haha) as one of the waiters in the cafe (Yuzuka Rei was the other -- oh, how did I know they would push her? ;P). And she got to hold up a painting. X3 And I so loved watching her in the dance party, I'm totally going to write to her. ^____^
* Hanae Chiho also popped out to me briefly as one of the company workers. One of those other hatsubutaisei I've particularly had my eye on... So tiny... ♥
And now, the aisatsu story.
Kai-chan was one of those speech-givers who pauses two or three times because she's choked up and trying not to cry, but she clenched her fists and kept it together, and we all clapped for her a lot ♥ ♥ ♥
At the curtain call, she truly seemed so full of gratitude, all high-voiced and breathless, and we laughed with love...
...And Kai-chan just ate it up. Instead of toning it down, she over-played her emotions until she was being REALLY cheesy and girly and clasping her hands and thanking us over and over and we all just laughed more and loved and she knew it and loved it. Oh, Kai-chan ♥ ♥ ♥ You have been a scamp all along ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Best shinko speech ever ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
She had 25 people waiting for her in the rain at demachi. Akkii had about 15~18. No other official clubs present, but Ten-chan had FIVE people go up to meet her, and someone waiting on the corner gave Monchi a present ♥ But because of the rain I couldn't see if those three ladies hanging around met up with Tara-chan or someone else.
I did, however, clearly see Chami come out of the stage door -- just as I had seen her go in it this morning. ^_____^ A musumeyaku -- I may be projecting, but I think it was Amachaki -- came up behind her and Chami SQUEE'D and they walked off together ♥ ♥ ♥
