Translating as is my duty... *salutes wearily*
Thanks Becca, I would have never looked at the Hakataza website for more information on Ooeyama Kaden.

In the Heian Era, at the height of the Fujiwara family -- Shuten Douji, a demon living in Ooeyama, and his gang have been repeatedly pillaging the capital city as they please. Among them is one Ibaragi Douji, a young leader. He has mixed blood; born of Shuten Douji and a human woman. Abandoned as a child, he was found and raised by a daimyou of that time. He fell passionately in love with the daimyou's daughter, Fujiko -- but after some time Shuten Douji found him and brought him back to Ooeyama.

Eventually, the emperor gives orders that his four great retainers, led by Watanabe no Tsuna, set forth to exterminate the demons. As Watanabe is about to go out in search of Ooeyama, a servant girl 'Fujinoha' appeals to him to be allowed to come along. She follows him without receiving permission, and when they reach the mountains they are captured by demons at once. Fujinoha is actually Fujiko, who lost her father and family in a great fire. Of her own accord she burned her beautiful face, and has lived on all this time only waiting to be reunited with Ibaragi. Gradually she began to feel a kinship with the brave Watanabe. When Ibaragi learns this, and that Watanabe has feelings for Fujiko, he insults her ugliness on purpose and means to make them go back to the city.

At last the four great retainers and their allies have raised armies and head for Ooeyama. Hearing this, Fujiko gets them drunk and lets Watanabe escape. Amidst the battle, Ibaragi prays for Fujiko's safety and intends to give her up to Watanabe. However...

However, they find a way to die tragically together?

I was excited about the "servant girl" for a little bit. Grrr.

Also, that was a pain in the ass to translate. But I think it turned out better than the translation I had started of the summary on the official site. Still, if anyone has any corrections, please let me know.

Japanese Wikipedia lists the other "great four" as Sakata no Kintoki, Urabe no Suetake and Usui no Sadamitsu. There are pages for each of them, but I'm too lazy to look right now and don't know how much importance they have in the play anyway.

Both the Hankyuu site and the Hakataza page promise that Sora Apasionado will be "remade", a "new version". Whatever that turns out to mean. (For some reason I expect them to replace Valentino with something else. It just seems too much like an "Asako number".)

Well. Doesn't that sound... interesting.

Mmm. Riveting story.

Though now I hold out some hope for Apasionado (couldn't they have remade the title too while there were at it?)

*continues to be intrigued* Thanks for the translation, Julie! <33333

As for Apasionado, I think in the interview with Yuuhi and Sumika, Yuuhi says something about how there will more or less be some changes.

Even though Ai-chan filled a lot of the top musumeyaku positions in the tsukigumi version, it was still a revue that was written with the absence of a top musumeyaku. I think this new version will probably reflect the fact that soragumi has that position filled.

As much as I'd like to see someone like Kai-chan play Mirio's role in the lion scene, my guess is that it will go to Sumika.

No idea what they're going to do with the chusume, which makes me wonder if it'll be rewritten completely. The "punchline" of having all of the otokoyaku come out in drag is lost if Sumika takes Kiriyan's place, but at the same time it would be a little weird not to give the top musumeyaku a place in the chusume. (You already know my feelings about Micchan in drag. I guess I'm just trying not to get my hopes up?)

Okay, ew. I just imagined Sumika in that sparkly, feathery, ruffley pantsuit and... ew. That wouldn't suit her at all. I hope for her sake they give her a proper dress.

(By the way, 中詰め is a combination of "chuu" and "tsume", so it's actually "chuuzume".)

As for Sumika and the lions? It kind of loses some of its charm if two 若手男役スター aren't at the center, but... Hmm. I guess the problem is my brain wants to put someone Masaki's age in that spot, but what we have in Soragumi now is a four-year gap between Masako and Dai-chan / Chii-chan. Plus I can't picture anyone else opposite Sumika.

Meh. Too much Sumika discussion in my journal. *goes off to write up Alice-chan and Eriko dream*
