CASABLANCA
C-C-C-Ca-Ca-Ca-CASABLANCA.

HOMFG.

My basic fangirl inclination to love fedoras and trenchcoats and angst -- and, okay, my buried love for Yuuhi -- has to win out here. IT'S CASA-FREAKING-BLANCA. ASDFKJL. YUUHI. ZOMG.

But the other half of the equation... Sigh. Seriously. Who can imagine Sumika in that kind of adult female role? You could say she did something approaching it in Gin-chan, but just... No. I don't see it. At all.

And do you see any other potential female roles? At all? Besides "expendable girlfriend" or "random refugee"? *scowls*

On a related note, I'm concerned as to how this is going to be made into a two-act musical. The film is just over 100 minutes long, and an hour and forty minutes is about standard for a one-act Takarazuka play with the expectation of a revue after the break. New characters / subplots? More interaction between preexisting characters?

I have to laugh, because at least half the people I've heard from have had the reaction "omg this sounds so awesome I must see the movie". XDDD;;; Whereas I coincidentally watched the movie for the first time not long before coming back to Japan. ;P

*EDITS:* I JUST LOOKED AT THE DAIGEKI RUN DATES AND ALMOST CHOKED.

11/13 (FRI) - 12/11 (FRI).

MY DAY OFF IS FRIDAY.

Yay for Casablanca! However, my second thought exactly: And do you see any other potential female roles? At all? Besides "expendable girlfriend" or "random refugee"? *scowls*
I can't see any female roles, except those forced ones. Cardboard character #1, cardboard character #2.. It's bugging me :(
But on a happy note: Yuuhi fits perfectly into that setting, I think ♥

New subplots to make newly created & necessary characters work. That's my own two cents :)

That's just because you're more cultured than the rest of us Julie-chan :)
I'm looking forward to seeing both the movie and the musical!

I'm not certain if this was the best or worst news to wake up to. My little heart, it breaks! Though perhaps the dates for my winter vacation will align... ;)

As you mentioned, new characters and subplots are definitely possible.

My thoughts is that there will be an opening number for both Act I and Act II, plus a finale (and those can stretch on for a while). Plus in some ways having a musical version could take longer, as you need to stop while the characters have reflective solos on the ginkyou that you wouldn't have in a movie.

I am so overexcited for this, I barely can express how much.
And just imagine how its finale will look like.
Entirely casablancanized Soragumi!finale. OMG! <3
I'm so dieing to finally see Yuuhi in a top star pairdance, by the way.

(Did I ever mentioned that I secretly hoped for Yuuhi/Alice for a while?)

ZOMG! My first thought was actually, "Who's gonna be SAM?"

HEE, I thought the same thing! .... Although partly because I have a dread of 'siennes in blackface. *wince*

YES OH YES OH YES.

I have a bit more liking for Sumika than you do, so this is an almost umixed joy. I am reserving part of my joy until I know where the extra time is coming from -- hopefully from an epic subplot involving Alice-chan as the local nightclub star who almost betrays the leading couple but then decides to help them in the end.

I am super duper insanely excited, because Casablanca has been one of my favorite movies for a ridiculously long time. However, I think you're totally right about the musumeyaku roles. It's not going to be much.
