Prelude of Not-Love
Suzuki-sensei, I don't know who taught you about English naming conventions, but I want to bash them over the head. Repeatedly. I've dealt with your bullshit before, but this is ridiculous.

Someone else mess with it. I can't make any more sense of them.

("Snandey" probably takes the cake... No, wait, "Dolfy" does. It's right up there with "Neuce". DX DX DX)

Anyway, mazel tov to Taiga Rin-chan for the shinko lead... Ousaki Ayaka, I can't say.

P.S. Tomoyo-san gets an Isolabella show before she goes. Cool.

*edits* Manda just mailed me from Studio 54 intermission to confirm that Kiriyan is, in fact, named Holly.

... *bangs head against wall until losing consciousness*

Could Dolfy be a pet name of Rudolf or (oh please no) Adolph? Snandey and Neuce I have absolutely nothing on. I just... what?
Juliewao_wao on December 23rd, 2010 07:53 am (UTC)
They just make up names. I swear to god, they just put random strings of katakana together thinking it sounds foreign whether or not it makes any amount of sense.

Yeah, running down that list... Gyle? Mauro? Keelay? Ahya? Sisty? I don't live that far from Santa Monica (p.s. what's with the sudden fascination in Zuka with Southern and Central California? Emperor and Journalist, PW2, Paradise Prince... now this one...) but I can't think of anyone with names like that. They're close to actual names (mostly) but far enough off to be totally wrong. *facepalm*

::edit:: I also find it interesting/disturbing that after Ai no Prelude, 1/3 of the otokoyaku in New Generation will have retired.

Mauro, at least, is a genuine Italian name. The rest are pretty much bogus, yeah. :\

(Re: New Gen girls -- you don't have to tell me, I know T_____T)

SOOO TRUE XD;;;;; I especially see those in Egyptian or Korean setting-musicals and I always have a great LOL about them. I suppose it is a pain to translate all that though :/ I'm amazed at how you've managed to make them sound "make-sense" though! <3

But . . . Kiriyan is HOLLY? *headdesk*

...how impossible is it to get Isolabella tickets on the regular way? T_T (70 seats??? Are you kidding me T___T ... though maybe there even are less than 70 people who would like to see a Tomoyo show...)
Juliewao_wao on December 23rd, 2010 08:54 am (UTC)
Have hope! There are two performances, so that's 140 people, and if those two days sell out fast they sometimes add a third show :) Ayumi-san got 3 days, and so did Ichika, and probably many others ^^

Here's your usual facetious comment by Angela.
I hope the next Suzuki-sensei show has someone named, like, Turd Ferguson. Or Mike Rotch.

*giggle* Watch, one of the half-American girls will suggest that as a name for one of their douki as a practical joke.

Dancing Shrine Rotch. Brilliant.

I'm... pretty sure he's a gamer, or that he gets a lot of his name ideas from video games. Some of them, like システィー, also popped up as the name of a company in Hyogo.

I don't know, I think it's nice when there aren't 53 variations of "Ann" in the cast list. ;)

"Snandey" ... I wonder if it's supposed to be Hindi? It would be shocking to see a multi-cultural America, though. ;)

Oh, Holly. I feared it. Any place that can name their man male character "Joy" can't worry about sinking any lower. *grins*
Juliewao_wao on December 24th, 2010 05:58 am (UTC)
Well I see you made at least a little more sense out of it, although I maintain that Giles is not pronounced the same way as "guile"...

It would be shocking to see a multi-cultural America, though. ;)

I thought about that, with names like "Keelay" etc. If it did happen, I would give Suzuki-sensei some of his cool points back. ;P

Any place that can name their man male character "Joy" can't worry about sinking any lower.

And they did it TWICE. *hangs head*

(P.S. So someone added the 2010 special to all the troupe performance pages... Would you agree that it shouldn't be there?)

I agree, but sometimes they seem to think that that last consonant sound isn;t really necessary. I googgled and found a bunch of different ways that people were katakanizing it, so.....

Have you been following the thread in the TakaWiki editors forum? I'm afraid I got outvoted on this, but I refuse to pick up th extra work, so I'm ignoring it.
Juliewao_wao on December 24th, 2010 09:53 pm (UTC)
Ah hah. Editor's forum? Me? Ever? I don't know why I'm so allergic to the forums, but I pretty much ignore them if I'm not specifically asked about something.

I suppose there's no point in saying what *I* would have voted, unless... can we ask for a re-count? T____T;;;
Jencaithion on January 4th, 2011 02:56 am (UTC)
I recommend reading the forum, at least if you don't want things to get decided without your input. XD

Given that no one has gone back and really done all the work to make the five troupe lists up-to-date, I think it would be fair to change the decision, if you can convince people to. (Please!!! *sigh*)

Well after Anabelle and Christopher Creme in silver Rose Chronicle I'm ready for anything regarding names. But serioulsy some names seem picked by throwing darts to katakana cards . They also need a bit of help with geography since they are using songs in Spanish for Nova Bossa Nova which take splace in Brazil the only Portuguese speaking country in America , dear Hankyu even if Spanish and Portuguese are related they are not the same thing. That is why I propose that one of us has to go and be their languague and geography advisor .

one of us has to go and be their languague and geography advisor .

If this job existed, I totally would have applied for it while I was in Japan >___<;;;

I don't think "Creme" is nearly the worst surname in Zuka history, though. Aside from the mangled English names, I've heard the French, Italian etc can be equally ridiculous.

You should have seen the lughs I had when I saw the Zorro dvd: no mariachis don't dress like that those are Oaxacan hats, dear indians I don't thin you´ll be able to find buffalo in California and I don't know why you spoke Sioux words, it is pronounced Zorro not Zoro. But it was a good dvd and I enjoyed it.

Too bad there is no language and geography advisor jod ;__;
