Hey, everybody.

I know that in this fandom, while some people are calm and rational in the face of all announcements, I'm one of the ones who is loud and reactionary and behaves like a drama queen. I scream and flail and cry and generally express my feelings in all caps and lots of exclamation marks.

So I'm not really sure if people take me seriously or not, when I act so dramatic.

Let me be clear.

I am really very extremely upset about Ami.

It's like the company raised up this beautiful little flower and then let it get stomped all over.

You take a girl who's maybe 17 or 18 -- almost certainly under 20 -- who's gone through the rigorous Music School training but probably never had any other stage experience in her life. After her hatsubutai, send her straight into rehearsals for her first show and give her the shinko lead; from there put her right back into rehearsals for another show; when she's done with that, make her start preparing for a Grand Theater lead scarcely six months after her debut; make her share her heroine role and switch between lead- and non-lead shows from morning to afternoon every other day. All with little to no breaks. All amidst a torrent of controversy and fan dislike.

"Poor health"? Yeah, I think her choushi is pretty fucking warui.

It makes me sick at heart. It's things like this that really kill the dream and mar the beauty that Takarazuka supposedly represents.

It's actually worse than Chiko-chan, because if Chiko-chan retires at least she just had a stressful few months as a background ken-1 that she can hopefully leave behind. Ami-chan has had nine months of high-profile infamy. It's like she was brought up just to be torn down.

Maybe some people will still think I'm just being overdramatic again. But please, if you have any goodness in your hearts, please write letters of support to Yumeka Ami. Whatever happens, I think she'll be glad of them.

Well, first of all, I'm sorry for random comment and came out of nowhere in your journal. I hope you don't mind. If you do I apologize.
I think you aren't a dramaqueen. I meant to write her letter after I saw her performance on maeraku, but my lack of Japanese made me think is it oke to write in english? Today news convinces me, I should write her letter. She impressed me a lot with her Juliette, especially her singing. She put a lot of effort to improve her performance. I can see the different between the first week show and maeraku.
It's really bad, she has to be absent for Tokyo.

Please do write her, even if it's in English. I'm so jealous that you got to see Ami-chan perform T___T ♥

I can only feel very, very privileged to have seen ami in HajimeteAi (where she shone, intense and onnayaku). She's an artist, plain and simple. (And yes, I'm already starting on my letter of support.)

I can't believe it. What a horrible position to put her in. God damn in, Hankyuu, that's simply not... fair. This is your fault, stupid company, not hers. ;_;

I think it is great to be passionate about the things you love. It can`t be any other way, in my opinion, otherwise it`s not love, it`s half-hearted interest at best. And in this dull and patient community your diary is the one of the few that make me feel there is someone who really cares.
So, please, keep on being a drama queen all you want.

Thank you so much, your words meant a lot to me ♥

Even if it should actually be for health reasons that she vanishes from the performance this suddenly, those I think would have to be blamed on Hankyu as well.
Having to deal with pressure, even at this age, is nothing uncommon in Takarazuka. But Ami also has to deal with all this hate s***.
I hope so much she really just became ill, even if I can't believe that's really the reason for this.

*goes to write Ami letter now*

Thanks for explaining things a little better.. because I had no idea what was so upsetting in that last post since I don't ready Scribbly (and translating Japanese websites via Google Chrome often lacks much to be desired). Is she retiring... or just on sick leave? Is there sick leave?

Drama queen all you want. Just explain things once in a while so I understand WHY you're upset. <3 And I had tissues. The good kind (Puffs!). I would have given you one. :B

"Sick leave", for an undefined period time under a vague excuse of poor health. (Like Chiko-chan.) In 2009 a crapton of people were on sick leave for the flu, but they always said it was the flu and the girls each came back within a few days. And there have been a handful of serious injuries. But "poor health" is always like, well, that could be anything, and in a couple cases before this it was clearly the stress and pressure that got to them. People have retired suddenly under mysterious circumstances, etc.

That's what my "absences" tag is for, anyway.

Sorry for not explaining, but I would have felt really embarrassed crying at your house. Trust me, it wasn't pretty.

As I commented on flower_ballet's entry, I may not be in the biggest Ami fan in the world (nothing to do with the 96th incident at all, btw, I love the 96th class and the musumeyaku I've chosen to support just the same as any other class), but I would never wish anything horrible on her and this sucks. Just really really sucks.

'Poor health' does seem to be their umbrella title for anyone who is having emotional/stress issues. Heck, the Imperial family does the same thing - their fricking Crown Princess was driven to a nervous breakdown and they called it 'poor health' :(

Poor Ami-chan. Am planning on writing to her asap.
Juliewao_wao on February 26th, 2011 07:33 am (UTC)
So true. The Japanese are masters at cover-ups. :\

Please do write to Ami-chan ♥ ♥ ♥

I've never quite understood Ami haters, because in the end, they themselves were committing the crime they accused her of. :(

I hope she can recover her strength, emotionally and otherwise.

...in the end, they themselves were committing the crime they accused her of.

This. I just want to scream it from the rooftops.

I'm right up there with being upset with the company. The smarter thing to do would have been to let Ami settle in for a year before giving her leads. It might of quieted the mob a little. I feel like they have used her up and thrown her away.
I hope she and Chika-chan return stronger and quiet the critics.
People may feel like they should stop supporting Hankyu but I have the same feeling about the University of Oregon's women's basketball team (my other obsession). I may not like the coach but I will always support the women playing. I may not like what Hankyu is doing but I will always support the women who are working so hard to entertain us.

I really feel bad for her and this situation that she has to put up with is totally unfair.

Now about expressing feelings towards news/other things: we are human. When shocking news like this happens, there are all sorts of reactions and in this day and age, it's hard to tell the human expression via the internet. I believe everyone has the right to express their feelings and with news such as this, it's very upsetting. It's your blog and you should feel comfortable with expressing your feelings :)
