A huge earthquake rocks Tokyo... and all of us rush to make sure our girls are okay.

Alice-chan's blog got six comments in ten minutes asking if she was alright (mine included). Now to check on other people I know...

*edit* Alice-chan updated saying she's safe. Haiji fell over and the gas is off, but she's okay ♥ ♥ ♥

I keep refreshing the official site to see if they have anything to report...

*nodnod* Thank you for keeping track of things. I'm watching the NHK feed. It's insane... :(

Okay, sometime later rationality does (sort of) return to me...

During 9/11 I was really into the Broadway fandom, and I remember a lot of people were concerned about their favorite Broadway actors being okay.

I think what it comes down to is that we immediately think of the people we know, even if we only know them as a public figure.

Most of the people I know in Japan are in Tokyo or Saitama. And while there does seem to be considerable damage there, I don't think this was The Big One, and I am firmly deciding that no news is good news until I hear otherwise. My brain just can't handle anything else. And I don't want to pester anyone (especially those I haven't talked to recently) for at least 24 hours, as I'm sure they're already frantic with checking in with relatives.

And I hope it's okay to post this here, but I did want to mention to anyone reading that Jen (ekusudei/caithion on LJ) wrote on Facebook that she's fine.

Thank goodness Jen is safe! Thank you to both you and muffin song for keeping us updated on Takarazuka. From what I've read, the earthquake and tsunami affected the Northeastern coast directly. 50 deaths confirmed so far. This is terrible, first New Zealand, now Japan. Please keep us updated as much as possible.
