Blogs
Yes, it is amazing that Amachaki started a blog less than 24 hours after her retirement. But more than that, and more than her apparent manga obsession, I'm just astounded that on her first entry she actually tried to reply to all the comments. There's 165 comments there and I'm thinking at least 60 of them are hers. Amachaki, what a doll.

But let's talk about Alice-chan's blog again, shall we?

Yes, there are two new entries.

And they are very different from her entries before the quake.

No more short sentences punctuated by emoticons. No more casual, chatty writing. And, so far, no pictures. I don't know whether to expect any more or not, and am starting to feel paranoid about going back and saving all the ones she's posted up until now.

I did a stupid thing and went to read on Ronpa what a few people thought about the big blow-up. Opinions ranged from "what she said was thoughtless, she should discipline herself better" to "there are lots of mean-spirited people on the internet and Alice-chan shouldn't listen to them" to "if you cared that much about the people affected by the earthquake, why were you reading an OG blog?" etc.

The one that made me stop and think the most was the person who said something to the effect of, "I checked her blog sometimes, and reading the things she wrote so candidly, I figured this kind of thing would happen at some point". Someone else, or maybe the same person, said "she's learned the hard way the dangers of speaking openly on a public blog" (I'm paraphrasing a lot).

I guess that's true. Maybe she should have thought a little more about the consequences of writing publicly and allowing public comments.

But I never, ever wanted this to happen to her and would have been much more happy if she'd continued writing cheerful, emoticon-filled entries forever and never had to go through this awful experience.

The fact that she updated her header with one of my favorite photo shoots is of little consolation. I mean, I have them already.

Things will never go back to the way they were. Which is why it hurts more. We had this great thing going with Alice-chan's blog, and I don't think it will be the same now.

Someone else, or maybe the same person, said "she's learned the hard way the dangers of speaking openly on a public blog" ...

I love that she didn't know, though. It means that the company and her fan club did a wonderful job of protecting her from the negative side of fandom during her years in Takarazuka. ♥

Hmmm I wish there was something more meaningful to say to comfort you and Alice. Hopefully everyone can just agree that it was at least an honest "mistake." Can't punish someone for not knowing.
